India, emerging as a global power, is resting its bets on 5Ts– Tourism, Trade, Talent, Tradition and Technology, adding to its brand globally. On all the 5 fronts, the Modi government has made significant progress, strengthening India’s position on a world stage.
Tourism:
As far as tourism is concerned, India is blessed with so much potential and this can draw the world: PM
India with its great civilizational and cultural heritage has lot to showcase to the world. The principle of ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’ has been the core of Indian philosophy.
In order to leverage India’s tourism potential, a number of initiatives have been taken by the Modi government. It includes upgrading infrastructure including better roads, modernising railways, affordable air connectivity through UDAN, port development, Ro-Ro ferry services and so on.
There is greater impetus towards integrated infrastructural development of tourist sites. Two flagship schemes of the government Swadesh Darshan and PRASAD have been started to focus on infrastructure development of toursim circuits and sites, with an intent to create more employment opportunities as well expand the local economy. It has led to creation of employment opportunities and boosted local economy.
Additionally, the government has extended e-visa and visa on arrival facilities to citizens of almost all countries. It has helped India’s emergence as one of the most preferred tourist destinations in the world post-2014. As a result, there has been significant increase in the number of foreign travellers visiting India.
Trade:
In the last 5 years, India has emerged as a force to reckon with. It is being seen as the fastest growing economy in the world and one of the most attractive markets for global players to invest. With the Modi government’s consistent efforts to improve India’s Ease of Doing Business, we have become the most favoured destination for foreign direct investment (FDI) in the world. Indian FDI touched an all-time high with $60 billion in 2016-17.
The reforms initiated by the government has helped India find register significant improvement in several ranking indexes including World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business and WEF’s Global Competitiveness Index.
Talent
What will drive innovation is IPPP- Innovate, Patent, Produce, and Prosper: PM Narendra Modi.
India is blessed with a demographic dividend. The Modi government has been focussing on nurturing the talent of its youth to accelerate nation’s growth.
From scientists, innovators, entrepreneurs to sportspersons, the energy and expertise of the young is receiving unprecedented institutional support. There is greater emphasis on nurturing a culture of innovation to fuel the entrepreneurial spirit. There has been a huge increase in number of patents granted between the period 2013-14 and 2017-18. India’s ranking in Global Innovation Index has jumped to 57th place compared to 66th place in 2013. The number of DPIIT recognised start-ups touched 14,545 in November 18 as compared to 4610 on October 2017, making India third biggest start-up ecosystem.
In sports too, the Modi government has made important interventions to encourage our sports players taking part in the international tournaments as well as identify and nurture the talent on the ground.
Under the leadership of PM Modi, Khelo India has been launched for identifying and nurturing regional sports talent as well as reviving the sports culture in India.
Tradition
India's cultural heritage holds the answers to all global problems
Rich heritage and traditions of ancient civilization of India show pathway to modern world. Yoga has gained immense popularity worldwide especially after the institutional push it has received from the Modi Government. As a result of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s sustained efforts, United Nations has declared International Day of Yoga to be celebrated every year on June 21. It is for the first time that all the countries passed this resolution unanimously.
The rich Tradition of Kumbh Mela has entered UNESCO’s list of the Intangible Cultural Heritage for Humanity. With Mumbai's Victorian Gothic and Art Deco Building declared as World Heritage by UNESCO, India stands second largest in number after China in terms of number of World Heritage properties in ASPAC (Asia and Pacific) region.
Technology

India is successfully using technological solutions to solve its long standing, structural issues. The Goods and Service Tax is one of the shining examples of technology being deployed to smoothen the transition process.

• India launched 104 satellites in one go.
• India’s ‘Mangalyaan’ reached Mars in its first attempt and became the first country in the world to have achieved this feat.
• India has, recently, announced a human mission to space by 2022.
• India now has its own GPS–NAVIC.
• State-of-the-art integrated command and control centre of Naya Raipur, India’s first smart greenfield city, is the finest example of e-governance.
• Digital India – More than 1.17 lakh gram panchayat connected through optical fibre network, up from mere 59 before the Modi government came into power in 2014.
• India’s GAGAN (GPS-aided Geo Augmented Navigation), a satellite-based augmentation system (SBAS), is for the first time being used in air navigation by the Airport Authority of India (AAI). The AAI has also offered the indigenous technology to other SAARC and Southeast Asian countries.
• India is leading Solar power technology nation with world’s largest solar power park with 2 GW capacity.
• India now has a unified Electronic National Agriculture Market (e-NAM).
• India became the associate member of CERN – world’s largest particle physics laboratory.
India’s rise as a global power is hinged on the manner in which its resources, talents and traditions are utilised to further strengthen the Brand India. The 5T model gives a solid view of the long-term vision of the Modi government that is gearing to take India to the next level of growth.
